What Is Hydrafacial?
If we were to compare this treatment to another one, we’d say it is most similar to microdermabrasion. However, there’s one crucial difference — this one is much gentler to the skin and it leaves it hydrated and plumbed.
A total of four acids is used to exfoliate your skin and get rid of dead cells. The cosmetologist first uses lactic acid, then glycolic acid, and finally salicylic acid. Next, hyaluronic acid and peptides are used to hydrate your skin. The entire procedure is performed with one handpiece — only the tips change.
Hydrafacials are not painful at all; in fact, they can even be considered relaxing. If you have very sensitive skin, you might find glycolic acid slightly “spicy”, but that will only last for a couple of seconds.
Who Is This Procedure for?
The best thing about hydrafacial is that it is a procedure almost everyone can benefit from.
It’s great for:
- Adults and teenagers with acne
- People who have problems with hyperpigmentation and wrinkles
- Oder people with sun damage
- Those who want to cleanse and hydrate their skin and get the most out of it
Hydrafacial is also recommended after other procedures, including chemical peels and treatments that make your skin peel.
Note that if you have rosacea, active rashes, sunburns, or you’re pregnant or nursing, it’s best to postpone your hydrafacial.
If you are a busy person who doesn’t have a lot of free time to spend in beauty salons, you will love getting hydrafacials. The procedure itself isn’t long (around 60 minutes), and you can return to your daily tasks right away. You might experience a bit of redness right after you’re done, but that’s pretty much the only side effect you can expect.
You can even apply makeup a couple of hours later, although it’s best to let your skin rest and breathe for a day.
Hydrafacial in the Beauty Salon
The results you get after a hydrafacial cannot be achieved with any creams, exfoliators, or masks at home. That’s why it’s crucial to visit a beauty salon and let a licensed cosmetologist take care of your skin.
They will evaluate your skin’s condition and customize the procedure so that you can get the most out of it. Apart from leaving your skin super-hydrated and glowing, this procedure will also gently exfoliate it, which will result in an even, radiant skin tone.
It’s best to have a hydrafacial done regularly (once a month) in order to achieve the best results. However, note that you will be able to notice a difference after your first treatment.
